I have been getting buisness through word of mouth and emailing bridal shops about exchanging buisness cards but its been a slow month. Is there another effective way to advertise without busting the bank for wedding photography?
Thanks so much!
I have a website that is online and is not a free one, my domain name is my buisness name.
I have done craigslist and others like it.
I know in our town we have bridal fairs at our mall and another at a local hotel. These fairs have booths set up so that businesses can get their names out there. I would start with that. Then word of mouth does wonder. Start some sort of reward program for people who refer you to other people. You may check and see if a local floral shop wants to team up with you and have packages that way. Also check out theknot.com. They are a wedding website that I believe is set up by area of the country.

Set up your own website…
Just go to a free website maker and make it

Least costly way would be to advertise on craiglist or similar sites offering free advertising, whether that is EFFECTIVE would all depend on the audience reach of the site and how good your advertisement is.
I've advertised my photography business on a similar site to craigslist called http://www.gumtree.com.au and it has worked well for me - though keeping in mind it may attract a certain demographic of clientelle (ie. low-end of the market), though if you are just starting out, this is perfect because customers usually look on these sites to find someone cheap and are usually carefree enough to allow a startup photographer to take thier wedding shots.
Thats basically how I made my money when I first started to get me the lenses and cameras I have today, it's been good.

i guess best way to promote or advertise your business is upload your portfolio videos or power point files on youtube or slideshare
you can also use flickr to show your skills and portfolio to interact with peoples. Main advanatge of flickr is there are lots of professional photographs so it will be a good community for you to share and grow your business.
In both idea you just need to devote time and grow your community rest all is free
hope it make sense. Best of luck

I suggest you penetrate the internet. Look for people who are looking for a service like yours in online ads or better yet, set up your own website. you can also look for affiliates so you can exchange links/urls.
