no. all contracts are for EIGHT Years total. if your initial contract spells out 4 years active 4 years Reserve, you have no other choice. if the contract gives you options, then you either Re up for another 4 years, go reserves for 4 years or transfer to IRR for 4 years. at any time during IRR you CAN be called up again.

The only way to “remove it” is to serve 8 years active duty.

I don’t know, but I wouldn’t really worry about it. It’s inactive reserve, which means you don’t have to really do anything. The inactive reserve is a “just-in-case they need you” sort of thing. It is extremely rare to be called back to active duty if you are in the inactive reserves. They will call active reserves first, so really don’t worry about it. I’m in the inactive reserves, and I haven’t even heard much about it.

No every contract is for minimum 8 years but the last 4 oare for Individual Ready reserves no biggie you dont even have to report they hunt you down if they need you

How to remove mandatory 4 reserve years after serving active duty service?
Hello I would like to know if there is a legitimate way to remove a 4 year reserve contract after serving your 4 years active duty in the service. A contract for 4 years active duty and 4 years reserves. Thanks.
